preparations.

I leave for Africa one week from today. This weekend I found someone to sublet my apartment; tomorrow I see the doctor about shots. My passport is in order. But there is still a crucial question: what to wear?

A friend of mine, who used to live in India, gave me the advice he gave his visitors: "I'd tell them to pack as little as possible. Then they should take half that much." I told him I would do this, but as I'm going through my clothes, I want to take every black T-shirt I own. It's like I'll never them again. Like all the other black T-shirts will get their feelings hurt.

I'm also considering ready material. Anybody know a good book set in Africa? Tanzania, even?

Hi Leslie and Drew, you adventurous people!
Thanks for the blog posting, Leslie. I hope you will continue to inform us. Hope you have a wonderful visit together in Africa. Will you visit other countries? Tanzania must be beautiful but so many things seem scary to me. Like, be careful in that deep lake! And the food. I wonder what you will eat... I hope the food is good. My summer is going well. Let me know when you both get back to the states... Love, Dale
