sometimes I hate the Internet
One must go online for everything these days. Most folks I know don't really care; they are online all the time anyway. But I find it annoying. I went to buy advance tickets to the Hayden Planetarium at the the Museum of Natural History on Saturday, but I was told I had to go online. Really? But I'm right here! And I don't want to pay your silly $6 processing fee. That's why I walked down here!
Last week I bought the new(ish) Killers album, "Day and Age." Yes, that's right, I bought the album, in compact disc form. Rather archaic, I realise, but that's the way I am sometimes. I opened it up and popped it in my stereo as soon as I got home, then slid out the liner notes to find out more about the band, like their names and what they play and to whom they said "thank you." I know they've been on the scene for a while, but I'm not very cutting edge. I only got turned on to them when I heard "Spaceman" on my favorite radio station, 101.9 RXP.
But the liner notes were just some pointillistic portraits of the band and a list of their names, but not their instruments, and a few credits. Minimalist, I suppose. I get that this Brandon Flowers character is the lead singer, because he is set off from the rest of them in the one group shot, indicating "lead singer" status, not tot mention his very "lead singer" name. But which one is the guitarist? I don't want to have to log on to their site when I have the album right in front of me! And also: what kind of band doesn't have anyone to say "thank you" to? Maybe they have that online, too...
